Job Title: Sr. System Administrator
Overview:
The role of a Sr. System Administrator entails the proficient provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of systems hardware, software, and associated infrastructure.
They ensure adherence to organizational values in system hardware, operating systems, software systems, and related procedures, thereby facilitating the accomplishment of business objectives.
Responsibilities:
1. System Installation and Configuration:
- Perform installation, configuration, testing, and maintenance of operating systems, application software, and system management tools.
- Maintain optimal levels of systems and infrastructure availability.
- Monitor and evaluate system performance, providing performance statistics and reports.
2. System Maintenance:
- Conduct daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of hardware, server resources, systems, and critical processes.
- Review system and application logs, ensuring the completion of scheduled tasks such as backups.
- Conduct regular security monitoring to detect and prevent unauthorized access or breaches.
3. System Security:
- Implement security measures to safeguard systems against unauthorized access and cyber threats.
- Perform routine security updates and manage patch deployment.
- Develop and maintain documentation outlining system configurations, processes, and procedures.
4. Troubleshooting and Issue Resolution:
- Investigate and resolve system-related issues and challenges.
- Address service outages promptly, working within defined service level agreements (SLAs) to restore services.
- Escalate unresolved issues to appropriate personnel or vendors as required.
5. Backup and Recovery:
- Ensure regular completion and successful restoration of backups as needed.
6. Capacity Planning:
- Conduct capacity planning and analysis to anticipate system hardware, software, and storage requirements.
- Implement enhancements to bolster system reliability, performance, and security.
7. Collaboration and Communication:
- Collaborate with fellow IT staff to ensure the seamless and dependable operation of systems in support of business objectives and processes.
Requirements:
- Demonstrated experience in installing, configuring, and troubleshooting Windows-based environments.
- Proficiency in virtualization technologies.
- Familiarity with networking concepts and protocols such as TCP/IP, DNS, and DHCP.
- Strong scripting abilities.
- Sound understanding of security best practices and principles.
- Experience with monitoring systems and backup/recovery solutions.
- Excellent problem-solving capabilities with meticulous attention to detail.
